My Hobby in radio area
I've got licensed the radio station in 1979 when I was a high school student.
I encountered a radio teletype system in 1981 and learned how it works.
RTTY and AMTOR
I built an RTTY system using a personal computer and inteface boards to encode/decode the signals in 1982. Since then, I have been interested in digital communications.
AMTOR mainly developped by Peter Martinez was an interesting system. Unfortunately AMTOR's Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) was not better than SCS's Memory ARQ so when I read the SCS's Pactor manual, I was suprised to know how it works.
PACTOR
I wrote the basic of Pactor-1 protocol on Ham Journal No.88 in Nov/Dec 1993 issue.
Pactor mode is available on PK-232MBX. Those who hold the PK-232MBX are kindly requested to check your own PK-232MBX. If your PK-232MBX's ROM Version is 7.0 or upper, you can use the Pactor-1 on your PK-232MBX.
WINMOR
WINMOR is a digital mode (OFDM) handling e-mails developed by a team in the north America and launched in the Fall of 2008. It was an alternative of Pactor mode, which costs quite a bit. WINMOR has two modes, first one is BW1600 and the other one is BW500. WINMOR is easy to set up the system. What you need are SignalinkUSB and cables to connect SignalinkUSB and transceiver and PC. You must use RMS Express software and two initial files(RMS Express.ini, WINMORTNC.ini). WINMOR is a truely low cost (US$150or so) system but it works pretty well.
WINMOR is regarded as a cheap Pactor but it can serve e-mail handling correctly.
My gate way covers WINMOR BW500 and BW1600.
